In November 2019, AUS-NZ Croatian Women in Leadership proudly launched its first National Summit—an extraordinary gathering held in Canberra. Hosted by Ambassador Betty Pavelich and organisation co-founder Sonja Palic, the two-day event marked a milestone moment, uniting Croatian women leaders across Australia and New Zealand for the first time.
Event Highlights
Friday 15th November – Welcome Cocktail Reception
Held at "Burbury Terrace" in the Burbury Hotel.
Attendees enjoyed drinks and canapés, setting a warm, celebratory tone to launch the Summit.
Saturday 16th November – Full-Day Summit
Hosted at the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia, Canberra.
Featured insightful guest speakers, dynamic presentations, and facilitated connection across sectors.
Morning and afternoon tea, as well as lunch, provided.
Saturday Evening – Formal Celebration Dinner
Held at The Buvette restaurant in Hotel Realm.
Included a three-course dinner, wine/soft drinks, tea and coffee.
Lively entertainment was provided by the band Dobre Vibracije.
Notable Speakers & Attendance
The Summit welcomed over 120 attendees from across Australia and New Zealand, including accomplished leaders from diverse industries.
Featured keynote speaker: Katarina (Bošnjak) Carroll, first female Queensland Police Commissioner, among other distinguished guests.
As the inaugural Summit, 2019 laid the foundation for what has become a powerful, growing network—one that champions heritage, leadership, and connection. The event planted the seeds of community and inspiration, bringing together Croatian women across professions and states, and forging connections that continue to flourish today.
